Description
AMD Ryzen 5 8600G Processor with Radeon 760M Graphics.
Geekbench recently unveiled details about the upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 8600G desktop APU, a model yet to be officially released. This APU boasts six Zen 4 cores and an integrated RDNA 3 GPU featuring eight Compute Units (CUs), aligning with earlier speculations of a launch in the current quarter. The Geekbench entry outlines the Ryzen 5 8600G’s configuration, showcasing a hexa-core, dodeca-thread setup with a peak clock speed of 5.0GHz and a substantial 16MB L3 cache.
The APU integrates the Radeon 760M GPU, mirroring the ones found in select Ryzen 7000 laptop processors. This GPU consists of four Work Group Processors (WGPs), combining eight RDNA 3 CUs, operating at a clock speed of 2.8GHz. Notably, this is 200MHz higher than the Radeon 760M in existing laptop processors.
Performance benchmarks for the Ryzen 5 8600G’s Radeon 760M IGPU are impressive, achieving 24,842 in OpenCL and 30,770 in Vulkan. These results signify about a twenty percent improvement compared to the Ryzen 5 7640HS laptop processors with the same GPU.
The CPU component of the Ryzen 5 8600G is a 6-core/12-thread configuration based on the Zen 4 architecture. Each core is accompanied by 1 MB of L2 cache, alongside a shared 16 MB L3 cache. With base and maximum boost frequencies of 4.35 GHz and 5.00 GHz, respectively, these specifications closely resemble the mobile Ryzen 5 7640H. The 8600G, equipped with a 65 W Thermal Design Power (TDP) and a potential 90 W Package Power Tracking (PPT), promises enhanced boost frequency performance.
The Radeon 760M GPU of the APU utilizes 8 out of the available 12 RDNA3 CUs, featuring 512 stream processors and an engine clock of 2.80 GHz—surpassing the 2.60 GHz clock speed of the Radeon 760M in the Ryzen 5 7640H. The testing setup for the 8600G ES included an MSI MEG X670E Ace motherboard and 32 GB of dual-channel DDR5-6000 memory.
As for the Ryzen 8000G desktop processors, details about their release remain speculative. Expected to be AM5 platform-compatible, some attributes of the Ryzen 5 8600G have been disclosed, but the exact release date is uncertain. While AMD is anticipated to host an event at the upcoming CES trade show in Las Vegas, confirmation regarding any announcements related to the Ryzen 8000G series is still pending.
